Eldon Yarbrough
Eldon was born March 30, 1943. He first became involved in racing by keeping up the track at the Old Jacksonville Speedway. He drove for Jerry Moran, Red Moore, Speedy Spiers, and others. He says he didn’t have many wrecks but when he did, he tore them up “real good”. Driving the Modifieds with those little wings was a big thrill but perhaps the biggest thrill was racing against such greats as Tiny Lund, Red Farmer, Bobby Allison, and of course, his brother LeeRoy Yarbrough.

Eldon quit racing in 1988, but during his 20 year career, he not only overcame being just LeeRoys’s baby brother, but also went on to become the track champion in 1983 and ’84. Eldon and his wife, Jean, live in Knightdale, N.C. They have one son, Eldon Jr.

Eldon was inducted into the Jacksonville Stock Car Racing Hall of Fame in 1992
